Possessive Adjectives: My, Your, His, Her, Its, Our, Their
Possessive adjectives show ownership or belonging. They come before nouns.
| Person | Adjective | Example |
|---|---|---|
| I | my | This is my book. |
| You | your | Is this your pen? |
| He | his | Ahmed has his bag. |
| She | her | Amina does her homework. |
| It | its | The cat eats its food. |
| We | our | This is our classroom. |
| They | their | They have their books. |
Important Rules
- Possessive adjectives agree with the owner, not the object: “Ahmed loves his mother.” (Ahmed = male → his)
- They are always followed by a noun: “This is my book.”
- There is no apostrophe: “Its” ≠ “It’s” (it is).
Practice
- Complete with the correct possessive adjective: I have ___ book. She has ___ pen. We love ___ school.
- Correct the mistakes: He loves her brother. She has his book.
- Write 5 sentences about your family using possessive adjectives.
