Purpose:

• To + V1: “I study to succeed.”
• In order to / so as to + V1: “She left early in order to catch the train.”
• So that + can/will: “He saved money so that he can buy a car.”
• For + noun: “I went for a walk.”

Result:

• So + adjective/adverb + that: “It was so hot that we stayed home.”
• Such + (adjective) + noun + that: “It was such a good film that I watched it twice.”
• Therefore, as a result, consequently: “He didn’t study; therefore, he failed.”
