Asking for and Giving Opinions: Key Expressions

Expressing opinions is a fundamental skill in English. These expressions are essential for the BAC exam, especially for the written expression and oral components.

Asking for opinions:

• “What do you think about…?”
• “In your opinion, …?”
• “How do you feel about…?”
• “What’s your view on…?”
• “Do you agree that…?”
• “Would you say that…?”
• “What are your thoughts on…?”

Giving personal opinions:

• “In my opinion, …” / “In my view, …”
• “I think/believe/feel that…”
• “As far as I’m concerned, …”
• “Personally, I think that…”
• “It seems to me that…”
• “From my perspective, …”
• “I strongly believe that…” (strong opinion)

Agreeing:

• “I agree completely.” / “I totally agree.”
• “You’re absolutely right.”
• “That’s a good point.”
• “I couldn’t agree more.” (strong agreement)
• “That’s exactly what I think.”

Disagreeing politely:

• “I’m not sure I agree with you.”
• “I see what you mean, but…”
• “I respect your opinion, but I think…”
• “I’m afraid I disagree.”
