📌 Learning Objectives
- Understand the difference between countable and uncountable nouns.
- Use quantifiers correctly: some, any, much, many, a lot of, a few, a little.
- Apply these concepts in BAC-style exercises.
📝 Lesson: Countable and Uncountable Nouns / Quantifiers
1. Countable Nouns (الأسماء المعدودة)
Countable nouns are things we can count. They have singular and plural forms.
Examples: a book (books), a car (cars), an apple (apples), a student (students).
With numbers: one book, two cars, three apples.
2. Uncountable Nouns (الأسماء غير المعدودة)
Uncountable nouns are things we cannot count. They have no plural form.
Examples: water, milk, rice, bread, money, information, advice, homework, time, music.
Important: We cannot say “a water” or “two informations”. We say “a glass of water” or “some information”.
3. Quantifiers (أدوات الكمية)
Some: used in affirmative sentences with both countable plural and uncountable nouns.
Example: I have some books. I need some water.
Any: used in negative sentences and questions.
Example: I don’t have any friends here. Do you have any questions?
Much / Many:
- Much + uncountable nouns (usually in negatives/questions): How much money do you have?
- Many + countable plural nouns: How many students are there?
A lot of / Lots of: used with both countable and uncountable nouns (affirmative).
Example: There are a lot of people. I drink a lot of coffee.
A few / A little:
- A few + countable nouns: a few books (some, a small number).
- A little + uncountable nouns: a little sugar (some, a small amount).
Few / Little (without “a”): means “not enough” (negative meaning).
- Few students passed the exam (not enough).
- Little time remains (not enough).
4. Summary Table

Many people drink a lot of soda, which is unhealthy. It is better to drink some water instead. Also, we should eat a few nuts as snacks.
