Question words (also called Wh-words) are used to ask for specific information. In this lesson, we will learn how to use Who, What, Where, When, Why, Which, Whose and How correctly.

- To use each question word correctly in context.
- To form correct Wh-questions in different tenses.
الشرح المبسط
1. What — يسأل عن الشيء أو الفعل: يستخدم للسؤال عن الأشياء أو الأفعال أو المعلومات. مثال: What is your name? — What do you like?
2. Who — يسأل عن الشخص: للسؤال عن الأشخاص. مثال: Who is your teacher? — Who wrote this book?
3. Where — يسأل عن المكان: للسؤال عن الأماكن. مثال: Where do you live? — Where is the school?
4. When — يسأل عن الزمان: للسؤال عن الوقت والتواريخ. مثال: When is your birthday? — When does the lesson start?
5. Why — يسأل عن السبب: للسؤال عن الأسباب (الجواب غالباً يبدأ بـ because). مثال: Why are you late? — Because I missed the bus.
6. Which — يسأل عن اختيار: للسؤال عن اختيار من بين خيارات محددة. مثال: Which colour do you prefer, red or blue?
7. Whose — يسأل عن الملكية: للسؤال عن مالك الشيء. مثال: Whose book is this? — It is Ahmed’s book.
8. How — يسأل عن الطريقة أو الحالة أو الكمية: مثال: How are you? — How many students are there?
أمثلة محلولة
Complete with the correct question word: “______ is your best friend?” — “Ahmed.”
Who is your best friend? (لأن الجواب عن شخص)
Complete: “______ are you going?” — “To the library.”
Where are you going? (لأن الجواب عن مكان)
Complete: “______ do you study English?” — “Because I want to travel.”
Why do you study English? (لأن الجواب عن سبب)
تمارين تطبيقية
- Ask a question for: “I wake up at 6 o’clock.”
- Fill in the blank with a suitable question word: “______ is your favourite subject?” — “Maths.”
- Correct the question: “Where you live?”
- Write a question for the answer: “The book is under the table.”

Write 5 questions using different question words (Who, What, Where, When, Why). Ask a classmate to answer them. Write the answers too.
