1. Conditional Sentences
Type 0 (Facts): If water boils, it evaporates.
Type 1 (Probable): If you study hard, you will pass.
Type 2 (Unreal present): If I were rich, I would travel.
Type 3 (Unreal past): If I had studied, I would have passed.
2. Reported Speech
Shift tenses back: “I am happy” → He said he was happy. “I will come” → She said she would come. “I have finished” → He said he had finished.
3. Passive Voice
Form: Subject + to be + past participle (+ by agent).
Active: The government built a school. → Passive: A school was built by the government.
Practice
1) “I am studying for my bac,” Ahmed said. → Ahmed said he was studying for his bac.
2) If you don’t revise, you won’t succeed. (Type 2) → If you revised, you would succeed.
3) The teacher explained the lesson. (Passive) → The lesson was explained by the teacher.
