Prohibition is a request to stop an action using specific grammatical forms.

Definition

Prohibition is the demand to refrain from an action. Its main tool is the prohibitive la followed by the jussive verb. Example: Do not lie.

Grammatical Structure

La + jussive verb. The verb is majzum with sukun. Examples: Do not be lazy. Do not be late.

Rhetorical Purposes

Prohibition can convey: advice warning supplication request desperation

Exercises
