Prepositions of Time, Place, and Movement

Prepositions are small words that show relationships between words. They are essential for correct English usage.

Prepositions of Time

• At: specific times (at 5 o’clock, at midnight).
• On: days/dates (on Monday, on July 5th).
• In: months/years/seasons (in July, in 2024, in summer).
• By: deadline (by Friday).
• Since: from a point in the past (since 2020).
• For: duration (for three years).

Prepositions of Place

• At: specific point (at the door, at school).
• On: surface (on the table, on the wall).
• In: enclosed space (in the room, in Algeria).

Prepositions of Movement

• To: towards (go to the store).
• Into: entering (walk into the room).
• Onto: moving to a surface (jump onto the bed).
• Through: from one side to another (walk through the door).
