Present Perfect Tense
The Present Perfect connects past and present. It is used for past actions with present relevance.
Formation:
Affirmative: Subject + have/has + past participle
Negative: Subject + have/has + not + past participle
Interrogative: Have/Has + subject + past participle?
Uses:
- Life experiences: I have visited Paris.
- Recent past: She has just finished.
- Unfinished actions: He has lived here for 5 years.
- Past with present results: I have lost my keys.
Signal words:
just, already, yet, ever, never, for, since
Examples:
- I have never seen that film.
- Have you ever eaten Mexican food?
- She has already left.
- We havent finished yet.
