Future Tense: Will and Going To

1. Will (decisions, promises, predictions)

Form: Subject + will + base verb

• Prediction: I think it will rain tomorrow.
• Promise: I will help you with your homework.
• Decision at the moment: The phone is ringing. I’ll answer it.
• Offer: I’ll carry your bag.

Negative: Subject + will not (won’t) + base verb: I won’t forget.

Question: Will + subject + base verb: Will you come to the party?

2. Going To (plans, intentions)

Form: Subject + am/is/are + going to + base verb

• Plan: I’m going to visit my grandmother next weekend.
• Intention: She is going to study medicine.

3. Difference between Will and Going To
