The Simple Past Tense
The simple past tense is used to describe completed actions in the past.
Formation of Regular Verbs
Add -ed to the base form of the verb.
- walk → walked
- play → played
- study → studied (y→i)
- stop → stopped (double consonant)
Irregular Verbs

Negative Form
Subject + did not (didn’t) + base verb: I did not go to school yesterday.
Question Form
Did + subject + base verb: Did you see the film?
