Conditional Sentences

Type 1: Real Present/Future

Formation: If + Present Simple + Future Simple will + V1. Usage: real possible condition. Example: If it rains I will stay home. If you study you will pass the exam.

Type 2: Unreal Present

Formation: If + Past Simple + would/could + V1. Usage: unreal imaginary condition in the present. Example: If I had money I would travel. If I were you I would study more.

Type 3: Unreal Past

Formation: If + Past Perfect + would/could have + V3. Usage: unreal condition in the past (regret). Example: If I had studied I would have passed the exam. If she had left earlier she wouldn’t have missed the bus.
