1. Expressing Purpose

a. To + infinitive:

I study to get good grades.

b. In order to + infinitive:

She works hard in order to support her family.

c. So as to + infinitive:

He left early so as not to miss the train.

d. So that + clause (can/could/will/would):

I saved money so that I could buy a car.

2. Expressing Reason

a. Because + clause:

I stayed home because I was sick.

b. Because of + noun:

The flight was cancelled because of the storm.

c. Since/As + clause:

Since it was raining, we stayed inside.

d. Due to / Owing to + noun:

The delay was due to technical problems.

Exercises

1. Combine: I went to the library. I wanted to study. → I went to the library ______.
2. She was late. The traffic was heavy. → She was late ______.
