The future perfect and future continuous are advanced tenses used to talk about actions in progress or completed at a specific time in the future. They are essential for the Baccalaureate exam.
I. Future Continuous (will be + verb-ing)
The future continuous expresses an action that will be in progress at a specific time in the future.
Form : Subject + will be + verb-ing
Example : “At 8 PM tonight, I will be studying for my exam.”
Uses :
1. An action in progress at a specific future time: “This time next week, we will be travelling to London.”
2. A future action that is already planned: “She will be attending the conference tomorrow.”
3. To ask politely about someone’s plans: “Will you be using the computer later?”
II. Future Perfect (will have + past participle)
The future perfect expresses an action that will be completed before a specific time in the future.
Form : Subject + will have + past participle
Example : “By the time you arrive, I will have finished my homework.”
Uses :
1. An action completed before a specific future time: “By 2025, she will have graduated from university.”
2. With “by” and “by the time”: “He will have saved enough money by December.”
3. Duration before a specific future time: “By next month, I will have lived here for five years.”
