Future Tenses (Will, Going to, Present Continuous)
English has several ways to talk about the future. This lesson focuses on the three most common future forms: Will, Going to, and Present Continuous for future arrangements.
1. Will + Base Verb
Uses:
- Predictions based on opinion: “I think it will rain tomorrow.”
- Spontaneous decisions: “I’m thirsty. I will get a glass of water.”
- Promises and offers: “I will help you with your homework.”

2. Be Going To + Base Verb
Uses:
- Plans and intentions: “I am going to study medicine at university.”
- Predictions based on evidence: “Look at those clouds! It is going to rain.”
“She is going to travel to London next summer.”
“The sky is dark. It’s going to snow.”
3. Present Continuous for Future
Uses:
- Fixed arrangements (usually with time/place): “I am meeting my doctor at 3 PM tomorrow.”
- Planned events: “We are having a party next Saturday.”
