Using present continuous for future
We use the present continuous (am/is/are + verb-ing) to talk about future plans and arrangements.
Structure
- I am meeting my friend tomorrow.
- She is flying to London next week.
- They are having a party on Saturday.
Time expressions
Tomorrow, next week, next month, tonight, this weekend, on Friday
Difference: will vs present continuous
- Present continuous: for planned arrangements (I am meeting…)
- Will: for decisions made at the moment (I will answer…)
Exercises
- Complete: I (visit) … my grandmother tomorrow.
- What are you doing this weekend?
- Make a sentence: we/have/exam/next Monday
