Grammar: Present Continuous for Future (3rd Year MS)

Using present continuous for future

We use the present continuous (am/is/are + verb-ing) to talk about future plans and arrangements.

Structure

• I am meeting my friend tomorrow.
• She is flying to London next week.
• They are having a party on Saturday.

Time expressions

Tomorrow, next week, next month, tonight, this weekend, on Friday

Difference: will vs present continuous

• Present continuous: for planned arrangements (I am meeting…)
• Will: for decisions made at the moment (I will answer…)

Exercises
