Countable and Uncountable Nouns: Advanced Rules
Nouns in English are either countable or uncountable. This lesson covers advanced rules and tricky cases.
Countable Nouns
Can be counted. Have singular and plural forms. Example: one apple, two apples.
Uncountable Nouns
Cannot be counted individually. Have only one form. Example: water, rice, milk, bread, information, news, furniture, money, advice, homework.
Quantifiers

Tricky Cases
- News is uncountable: “The news is good.”
- Furniture is uncountable: “The furniture is new.”
- Advice is uncountable: “Can you give me some advice?”
- Some nouns can be both: “I had chicken for dinner.” (unc) vs “The farmer has chickens.” (c)
