In this lesson, we study how to write formal and informal letters in English for 3rd Year Secondary School (Literary Stream – Baccalaureate). Letter writing is an important skill for your exam and for real-life communication.

Parts of a Letter

Every letter has the following parts:

- Address (writer’s address in the top right corner)
- Date (below the address)
- Salutation/Greeting (Dear…, Hello…)
- Body (the main content)
- Closing (Yours faithfully, Yours sincerely, Best wishes)
- Signature

Informal Letters
\n
Informal letters are written to friends and family. They use friendly, casual language.

Formal letters are written to officials, companies, or institutions. They use professional, polite language.
