Present Simple vs Present Continuous
These two tenses are often confused. Understanding the difference is essential for BAC English.
Present Simple
Form: Subject + V1 (s/es for he/she/it). Use: habits, routines, facts, general truths. Signal words: always, usually, often, sometimes, never, every day/week.
Present Continuous
Form: Subject + am/is/are + V-ing. Use: actions happening now, temporary situations, future plans. Signal words: now, at the moment, today, this week, look!, listen!
Key difference
- Present Simple: It rains a lot in winter. (general fact)
- Present Continuous: It is raining now. (right now)
