In order to / So as to
More formal. He left early in order to catch the train. She spoke loudly so as to be heard.
For + noun / gerund
I went to the store for milk. This machine is used for cutting paper.
So that + clause
Used when subjects are different. I gave him money so that he could buy lunch.
