Adverbs: Types, Formation, and Position

Types

Manner: quickly, carefully, well. Time: now, yesterday, soon. Place: here, there, everywhere. Frequency: always, often, never. Degree: very, quite, almost.

Formation

Most adverbs: adjective + -ly (quick -> quickly). Exceptions: good -> well, fast -> fast, hard -> hard, early -> early.

Position

Manner: end of sentence (He drove carefully). Frequency: before main verb (She always arrives early). Time: beginning or end (Yesterday, we went out).

Exercices:

1. Form adverbs from: easy, happy, careful, possible.
2. Put the adverb in the correct position.
