Prepositions of Place and Time — in, on, at — English — 3rd Year Middle School — Algerian Curriculum

Prepositions are small words that show the relationship between a noun/pronoun and other words in a sentence. In this lesson, we will focus on prepositions of place (where something is) and prepositions of time (when something happens).

الشرح المبسط

Prepositions of Place (حروف الجر للمكان):
In = في (داخل): in the classroom, in Algiers, in Algeria
On = على: on the table, on the wall, on the bus
At = في/عند (مكان محدد): at school, at the door, at the bus stop
Under = تحت: under the bed
Next to / Beside = بجانب: next to the window
Between = بين: between the two chairs
Behind = خلف: behind the door
In front of = أمام: in front of the board

Prepositions of Time (حروف الجر للزمان):
At = في (للساعة والأوقات المحددة): at 7 o’clock, at noon, at midnight, at night
In = في (للشهور، السنوات، الفصول): in January, in 2024, in summer, in the morning
On = في (للأيام والتواريخ): on Monday, on 5th July, on my birthday

قاعدة مهمة: لا نستخدم أي حرف جر قبل today, yesterday, tomorrow, every day, this morning. مثال: See you tomorrow. (وليس: on tomorrow)

The cat is in the box.

Complete: “My birthday is ______ June 15th.”

My birthday is on June 15th. (نستخدم on مع التواريخ)

Complete: “I get up ______ 6:30 every morning.”

I get up at 6:30 every morning. (نستخدم at مع الساعة)
