A house (a house) is a building where people live. It has different rooms, each with its own purpose and furniture. The main rooms are: the living room, the bedroom, the kitchen, the bathroom, and the dining room.

\\n

The living room (sitting room) is where the family relaxes and watches TV. It usually has a sofa, an armchair, a coffee table, a TV, and sometimes a bookshelf.

\\n

The bedroom is where people sleep. It contains a bed, a wardrobe (closet), a bedside table, a lamp, and sometimes a desk for studying.

\\n

The kitchen is where people cook food. It has a fridge, an oven, a stove, a sink, cupboards, and a table. The bathroom has a shower or bathtub, a toilet, a sink, and a mirror.

\\n

To describe the furniture in a room, we use ‘There is’ for singular items and ‘There are’ for plural items. For example: There is a bed in the bedroom. There are three chairs in the kitchen.

\\n

To ask questions, we say: ‘Is there a sofa in the living room?’ — ‘Yes, there is.’ / ‘No, there isn’t.’ Or: ‘Are there any chairs in the kitchen?’ — ‘Yes, there are.’ / ‘No, there aren’t.’
