English Grammar: Commonly Confused Words (Homophones)
Homophones are words that sound the same but have different meanings and spellings. They are a common source of errors in writing. Mastering these words is essential for clear and accurate written communication in English.
Common Homophone Pairs
- There / Their / Theyre:
– There: refers to a place. Example: “The book is over there.”
– Their: shows possession. Example: “Their house is beautiful.”
– Theyre: contraction of “they are”. Example: “Theyre coming tomorrow.” - Your / Youre:
