Phrasal verbs are combinations of a verb and a preposition or adverb that create a new meaning. They are very common in English and essential for fluency.
I. What is a Phrasal Verb?
A phrasal verb = verb + particle (preposition or adverb). The meaning is often different from the original verb.
Example: “look” = regarder, but “look after” = s’occuper de, “look for” = chercher.

III. Separable vs Inseparable Phrasal Verbs
Separable : The object can go between the verb and the particle.

With pronouns, the object MUST go between: “Turn it off” (NOT “turn off it”).
Inseparable : The object must come after the particle.
Example: “Look after the children” (NOT “look the children after”).
“Get over a problem” (NOT “get a problem over”).
