Vocabulary: Sports and Hobbies
Talking about free time activities is a common topic in English conversations. Knowing the right vocabulary helps you express your interests and ask about others hobbies.
Sports Vocabulary
Ball sports : football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, handball, table tennis, baseball, rugby.
Water sports : swimming, surfing, diving, water polo, sailing.
Other sports : running, cycling, athletics, gymnastics, judo, karate, boxing, wrestling, skiing, skating.
Useful verbs : play (football, tennis), go (swimming, cycling), do (judo, gymnastics).
Example : “I play football every weekend. My brother goes swimming twice a week.”
Hobbies Vocabulary
Creative hobbies : drawing, painting, photography, playing a musical instrument (guitar, piano, drums).
Outdoor activities : hiking, camping, fishing, gardening, bird watching.
Indoor activities : reading, watching TV/movies, playing video games, cooking, collecting (stamps, coins).
Asking about hobbies
