Read the following text about cultural diversity and tolerance, then answer the questions below.
Text: “Our Beautiful World of Diversity”
Our world is a beautiful mosaic of different cultures, languages, traditions, and beliefs. From the music of Africa to the cuisine of Asia, from the art of Europe to the hospitality of the Middle East, every culture brings something unique and valuable to humanity. Cultural diversity means recognizing and respecting these differences.
Living in a multicultural society has many benefits. We learn from each other, discover new ways of thinking, and become more open-minded. For example, Algeria itself is a multicultural country with Berber, Arab, and African influences. This diversity enriches our national identity.
Tolerance is the key to living peacefully in a diverse world. Tolerance means accepting that other people have different opinions, religions, and lifestyles. It does not mean agreeing with everything, but it means respecting the right of others to be different. The famous Algerian saying “One hand cannot clap” reminds us that we need each other.
However, cultural diversity can also bring challenges. Misunderstandings, stereotypes, and prejudices can create conflicts between groups. Education is the best solution to overcome these problems. When we learn about other cultures, we understand them better and fear disappears.
