Present Perfect Tense
The present perfect connects the past with the present.
Formation
Subject + have/has + past participle
I have visited Paris. / She has finished her homework.
Uses
- Life experience: I have travelled to London.
- Past action with present result: He has broken his leg. (it is still broken)
- Unfinished time: She has called three times today.
- With ever/never: Have you ever been to Egypt? I have never seen that movie.
Negative and Questions
Negative: Subject + have/has + not + past participle
Example: I have not (haven’t) finished yet.
Questions: Have/Has + subject + past participle?
Example: Have you ever been to Paris?
Exercises
- Write sentences in present perfect: (I / visit / London)
- Make questions: (you / ever / eat / Chinese food?)
