Writing: Describing a Famous Person
Structure of a Biography
1. Introduction: Who is this person? Where was he/she born?
2. Early life: childhood, education.
3. Career: what made him/her famous.
4. Achievements: awards, discoveries.
5. Conclusion: why this person is important.
Example
Abdelhamid Ibn Badis was born in 1889 in Constantine, Algeria. He was a great scholar and reformer. He studied at the Zitouna Mosque in Tunisia and at the University of Al-Azhar in Egypt. He founded the Association of Algerian Muslim Scholars in 1931. He opened schools and taught Arabic and Islam. He worked hard to preserve Algerian identity. He died in 1940, but his work continues to inspire Algerians.

Write a short biography of a famous person you admire (10-12 sentences).
