Possessive ‘s and Possessive Adjectives

Possession in English can be expressed using the possessive ‘s or possessive adjectives.

1. Possessive ‘s

Used with people and animals: John’s book, the cat’s tail, my parents’ house.

2. Possessive Adjectives

my, your, his, her, its, our, their.
Example: This is my book. That is her pen. These are our seats.

3. Difference

Possessive ‘s is used with nouns: the teacher’s desk.
Possessive adjectives are used before nouns: his desk.
