Future Perfect: Formation and Usage
The Future Perfect expresses an action that will be completed before a specific time in the future. It is formed with “will have + past participle”.
Formation
Affirmative: Subject + will have + V3: By next year, I will have finished my studies.
Negative: Subject + will not have + V3: They will not have arrived by 10 PM.
Interrogative: Will + subject + have + V3? Will you have completed the project by Friday?
Uses
1. Action completed before a future time: By 2027, I will have graduated from university.
2. Duration before a future time: By next month, I will have lived here for 5 years.
Signal words
by, by the time, before, by then, by next week/month/year.
Examples
1. By the time you arrive, I will have finished cooking dinner.
2. She will have completed her BAC by July.
