Reading: The Lion and the Mouse
The Text
A lion was sleeping in the forest. A little mouse ran over his nose. The lion woke up and caught the mouse. “Please let me go!” cried the mouse. “One day I will help you.” The lion laughed, “You are too small to help me!” But he let the mouse go. The next day, the lion was caught in a hunter’s net. He roared loudly. The mouse heard him and ran to help. She chewed the net with her sharp teeth until the lion was free. “Thank you, little mouse!” said the lion. “You are small, but you saved my life!”
